| The coastline of Taoyuan Hsien starts from the area nearby the bay outside Lu-chu Shiang in the north. It thenstretches southwest until Er-ker Harbor of Shin-wu Shiang. The coastline, in general, moves from east-northeast toward west-southwest slightly convex for a length of 43 kilometers
The coastline doesn't curve much and is largely straight, except at the concave outlets of rivers and the drain lakes. There are no good harbors along the coastline. Chu-wei fishing port and Yun-an fishing port are encircled by breakwaters.
The coastline consists of sand, pebbles, and coral.

Sandy beaches: Most of the coastline is sandy beach. The beach is shallow. When the tide ebbs, vast area of beaches and shoals become visible. |

Pebble beaches: The beach between the north bay and Chu-wei Sa-lung consists of heavy pebbles.The coastline is steeper the waves erode the land severely |

Coral beaches: Starting from the inner ocean of Da-yen in the north until Shin-wu Yun-an in the south is the coral beach. When the tide ebbs, the coral reef and seaweed become visible. The beach south of Guan-yin bathing beach is a typical coral beach. |
The dunes along the coastline are well formed and as high as 10 meters. The dunes stand in line parallel along the beach. The tall kapok had once formed a windbreak and was known as the "great green wall". Now the kapok forest is gone due to acid rain and salty soil. Nevertheless, the tall dunes and soft sand are still mjajor attractions to tourists. Taiwan Provincial Road 15 runs parallel to the coastline of Taoyuan Hsien. Visitors can take side alleys from the provincial road to reach the coast. |
