pictureWhen we talk about the local produce of Taoyuan Hsien, we know that the temperate fruit and mountain produce of Fu-hsing Shiang are made possible by the suitable climate and soil conditions. Da-shi's bean curd is made possible by the fine quality of water and unique recipe. Lung-tan's soft peanut candy was developed at a later stage, and is now getting popular.

Wen family improved the stickiness of conventional peanut candy and created their own unique peanut candy in recent years. Their peanuts are sweet and crispy; malt is medium sweet and not sticky at all. No colors and artificial flavors are added to the candy, so it maintains its natural flavor. The malt is difficult to spoil and can be kept for a long time. This feature makes the soft peanut candy suitable for distribution via multiple sales point in vast areas. In addition to the original flavor of peanut candy, the Wen family has developed more flavors in recent years, such as sesame, seaweed, parsley, coconut, ginger, chocolate, and wheat flavors.

The Wen family has also improved packaging in order to improve the product's apperance, aroma, and taste. If you have a chance to drive by Lung-tan, don't forget to watch for the roadside signs for soft peanut candy, then choose a shop to have a taste. You're guaranteed to enjoy the flavor.

pictureLung-tan Shiang has great conditions for growing tea trees. It is elevated and slightly inclined, has a high temperature, sufficient rainfall, and red soil. Ever since the Ching Dynasty, farmers here have planted and exported tea making tea and rice are the most important agricultural products here. Lung-tan produces green-leaf Oolong tea. Farmers process this tea into white Oolong tea, which is known as ;Oriental beauty; to westerners. During the 1960s and 1970s Lung-tan's tea roduction was at its peak. The amount of tea fields and production were higher than ever.

The export was high as well. As tea prices were cut in recent years, Lung-tan is losing its advantage. So the amount of tea fields are decreasing, as well as the quality. A decade ago, the government assisted that tea farmers manufacturer tea by machine, and helped the farmers to plant higher quality of tea trees bringing about a higher level of technique in tea-manufacturing. The Governor of Taiwan in 1983,Teng-hui Lee, named Lung-tan's tea "Lung-chuan pao chung tea." Since that time, Lung-tan's tea has had an official name.

There are around 900 hectares of tea fields in Lung-tan Shiang. When you pass through the suburb area, you can see the tea trees arranged in a manner to facilitate the machine harvesting of tealeaves. Pipelines are set up between tea trees to water the trees. Besides the commercial production of tea, local people integrate this local industry and tourism into the unique tourist tea gardens. When tourists purchase tea, they can also enjoy the scenery of the tea gardens, taste the tea at the reception center, and watch the process of tea production at the same time, then the visitors can better understand the tea culture of Lung-tan. The famous tourist tea gardens are located in Dien-tzu Lake, Tung-lo-chuen, San-ho Village, and San-lin Village.
